Our foundation is built on providing activities, education and charitable contributions to the majority of people 55 and older. These programs are solely funded by: donations from individuals and businesses, grants and fundraisers.
Additionally, many volunteers give of their time to serve in the various functions at the center which is open four days a week (M-Th) with additional special events on the weekends.
Each month over 2,000 citizens (90 % ages 55+) come from the cities of Forest Lake, Hugo, Wyoming, Scandia, Lino Lakes, Linwood, North Branch, Columbus, Stacy, Chisago City, and White Bear Lake to participate in the many activities and programs offered at the Forest Lake Senior Community Center. The majority of senior programs is open to anyone ages 55+.
A monthly newsletter is published. The Center provides resource brochures giving contact information for housing, health issues, home care, hospice, food, transportation, health insurance, chore services, crime prevention, etc.
The center also has a library for members to check out books.
The Forest Lake Senior Community Center sponsors community fundraisers run by many volunteers. The generated income, along with funds from regular activities at the Center and other donations, is used towards programming, office expenses, and repairs/replacement of furniture and equipment.
Maintenance, utilities, and salaries are paid for with tax dollars budgeted each year by the city of Forest Lake.
